Having therapy at your fingertips is a blessing especially when the experts at Thriveworks are so phenomenal. My 11year old and I see the same person who somehow can relate to both....

Get to know Lekisha

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I wanted to become a counselor because of my passion to help others who are struggling with issues in their lives.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I've worked with children and teens the most. Working with this population has allowed me to channel a more creative approach with the interventions I use.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I'm not limited to who I will work with. However, I enjoy working with people who are in the "preparation" stage of change.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

You are braver than you believe and stronger than you seem.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I choose to practice at Thriveworks because they care about their clients receiving help from clinicians who are competent and experienced. They care about their clinicians feeling valued and implementing their own self-care practices and well-being.

What inspires you?

I'm inspired by the clients that I am blessed to work with, their tenacity and resilience.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

The first session with my client is spent building rapport, answering questions, explaining, confidentiality agreement, discussing my therapeutic approach and inviting the client to be comfortable and their genuine self in counseling, as this is a space to process their concerns and stressors.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want my client to walk away from the first session excited that they've taken the initial step by seeking counseling.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

Clients should know that I am honest and transparent. I don't shy away from " uncomfortable" conversations..

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy spending time with family and traveling.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I am a genuine person. I try to operate empathy, honesty, and care. I am creative personality. I am loyal and dependable.
