Get to know Leah

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

Growing up I had my own traumas to be healed from. As I worked in various community settings I saw a need for mental health wellness and the problematic stigma behind mental health that needed to be dismantled. So I decided to go to school and teach about mental health in those communities.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited with every client that I come in contact with.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all my clients knew how valuable they are and that they are a force to be reckoned with once they know who they are.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I really like how Thriveworks is accessible to all clients and the impact they are making all over.

What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from my spirituality and strong ties with family.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

They can expect authenticity.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I'd like for all my clients to feel safe and comfortable in their first visit.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

Clients need to know that they will be challenged and called out when necessary but it will be with plenty of empathy and compassion.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

Being relatable defines me well with all spectrums of my life.
