About Kamaria
I am a conditional associate professional counselor (APC) with 6 years of experience in the mental health field. I work with adults who feel stuck in repeating relationship patterns, struggle with emotional communication, or carry unresolved wounds from past connections. My clinical focus includes relationship concerns, attachment issues, trauma, anxiety, and life transitions, with an emphasis on helping clients build healthier and more fulfilling connections with themselves and others.
I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University. My background includes experience as an educator, which informs my collaborative and supportive approach. I draw from person-centered, attachment-informed, and trauma-informed approaches to help clients increase insight, emotional awareness, and relational growth.
If you are navigating a relationship transition, longing for a deeper connection, or wanting to communicate your needs more confidently, I offer a warm and supportive space to explore your story. Together, we can work toward healing old patterns and building relationships that feel safe, connected, and authentic.

"Healing begins in a safe connection. In therapy, we’ll practice the warmth, honesty, and trust you want to experience in your relationships."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
There are two reasons why I became a therapist. During my adolescence, my grandmother passed away, and my mother breezed through my healing journey and I had severe unresolved grief that appeared in my adult years. Also, during my tenure as a teacher, I realized how my students social and emotional needs were not being met. I wasn't able to provide the appropriate level of educational care because of their unmet psychological needs. Both instances, provided me with self-awareness of how a person's psychological needs can affect their daily lives. With this awareness, I made the transition to go back to school to get my master's in clinical Mental Health Counseling.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults and late adolescence.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Clients should know that they set the pace and tone for their healing. They will not have everything figured out at before coming to therapy. The most important thing is that change feels uncomfortable because its not the norm, so be prepared to make lifestyle adjustments such as creating boundaries with loved ones.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Clients can expect a warm welcoming and a judgement free environment. We will discuss what brings he/she to therapy and a brief history about the client while we get to know one another. We will collaborate on setting goals that he/she wants to achieve and overall what he/she wants to get out of therapy.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Over the years, working in diverse settings has shown me how important it is to meet clients where they are. I value transparency, collaboration, and empowering clients to define what healing looks like for them. My practice is informed by listening deeply and honoring each person’s strengths, resilience, and capacity for change.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
The first step is building a strong therapeutic alliance to provide a safe environment. Next, complete a biopsychosocial assessment to assess the client thoroughly. Then, the client and I will collaborate creating goals that they would like to achieve. Lastly, I will choosing the appropriate therapeutic approach that fits the needs of the client and assess for progress and give feedback along the way.
