About Joy
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. My ideal client is someone processing grief and trauma, experiencing marital issues, postpartum depression, or attachment issues. I help clients facing uncertainty figure out how to improve their relationship with their child, parent, or spouse and develop skills for creating healthy boundaries, not walls, that do not compromise who you are or your needs. I help my clients process loss, work through feelings of abandonment and attachment, and address unhealthy coping patterns — developing the capacity to thrive in life.
I tailor my approach to each client's needs. Using CBT, I help you identify patterns and triggers, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that affect your life negatively. I specialize in individual and couples counseling, postpartum, and women's and men's issues, and work with individuals facing childhood trauma, suicidal ideation, PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
Figuring out why you can't feel anymore or why you feel everything is something that affects many people from many walks of life. Let's begin this journey together creating a space of support, a space for confronting, or a space for letting go. Let's forge a relationship that instills hope, a sense of peace, or allows for a path of personal growth.

"As a woman of color I understand the importance of cultural awareness and support. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a licensed counselor because I believe no one should have to carry their heaviest burdens alone. My practice is built on the foundation of empathetic listening and a commitment to uncovering real solutions for the private struggles that often go unseen. I am passionate about helping clients move from simply 'getting by' to finding genuine clarity and peace behind their own closed door.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with individuals who feel stuck in cycles of 'just getting by' and are ready to transition into active healing. If you are someone who values a balance of deep emotional processing and practical, real-world strategies, we will be a great fit. I specialize in helping those navigating private struggles; such as highfunctioning anxiety, or depression, relationship strain, or life transitions, that they may not feel comfortable sharing with the world.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish every client knew that therapy isn't something that is 'done to you', it’s a collaborative partnership. I’m not here to be the only expert in the room; you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide the external perspective and the professional tools, but the real results happens when we combine my 'how' with your 'who.' Counseling is collaboration.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our initial session we'll discuss the issues that are impacting you the most and collaborate by establishing a treatment plan and goals.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I often use several therapeutic approaches/ interventions based on the needs of the client. By utilizing an integrative interventionist approach I ensure the best treatment for each of my clients.
