Christy made me feel comfortable right away. I had been working with another local therapist who I loved, but who is moving and I was nervous about switching. But Christy has been fantastic already just in our first two visits. Would definitely recommend Christy and Thriveworks

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I was a person that always had people wanting to talk to be about their problems. I enjoyed helping when I could. As I got older I thought hmm, wonder if I could make a living with this. Lo and behold here I am!
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Mental Health issues, like physical health issues, range in type and severity. One can have anything from mild to severe issues as well as everything in between. The example I like to give is that when one is physically ill he or she may have a headache which could be classified as mild. On the other end of the spectrum one may have a brain tumor which could be considered severe. Mental Health issues can be classified in the same way. One may be quick to seek treatment for a physical issues but consider it an indulgence to seek treatment for mental health issues. Mental and physical health work hand in hand and there is NO shame in seeking treatment for one's mental health.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I felt I could reach and work with more clients as opposed to working at a brick and mortar practice.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
This is our getting to know each other session. This is the chance for clients to think of what issues they are having difficulty with and which issues they would like to tackle first.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
For my client to feel as comfortable with me as possible and to know that I am here to help in any way possible.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
That therapy is about them and I will keep the focus on what they would like to achieve from therapy. I have been doing this for a long time and while I am compassionate, I can be quite direct when it comes to helping the client get to where they want to go.
