About Rebecca
From the beginning, Rebecca has always been focused on meeting the needs of kids to serve their best interests. She specializes in issues related to parenting, LGBTQIA+, gender identity, gender dysphoria, anxiety, panic disorder, life and marital issues.
One of the first people to graduate Cornell University with a newly created minor in LGBT Studies, Rebecca has always been an advocate for and an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. Rebecca utilizes tools from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solutions-focused behavioral therapy (SFBT), and a narrative approach in helping her clients. As a Jewish divorced mom of two awesome kiddos, I focus my work on the practical and achievable steps towards improvement in your day-to-day life, which will ultimately translate to new and better experiences overall.
Rebecca finds great joy and personal satisfaction in helping her clients seek new function and practical solutions to improve their life experiences. The journey of life is not a sprint, but a marathon. And the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. If you are ready to take your first steps towards something better, Rebecca will be there to help you find your way.

"Rebecca is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Attorney with over 20 years of experience in high conflict divorce cases involving the needs of minor children. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
In a recent Facebook "senior photo" challenge, I actually revisited what I said about counseling when I was a teen. It was my career goal even when I was in high school. I think my instinct to listen to and to help others has always been a part of my personality. I was always going to be a counselor.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that no one is a better expert in their own experience of life than themselves.
What inspires you?
I am so inspired by my children. While that may sound trite, there is truth in it. My kids give me perspective on the future, a reality test on what their life is like now, and ideas for how I can live my own most authentic life going forward.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
My clients can expect to leave their first session with me feeling as though they are not alone. I find that our first session is one in which my clients will feel heard, feel seen, and feel validated for their own authentic feelings. I also find that most of my clients will find moments in their first session in which they will smile and feel better, even if it's only a little bit better than before we met.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
My clients should know that I have a light-hearted and optimistic approach to life. I believe that laughter is medicine, too, and I have a fun sense of humor. My clients should also know that I believe that THEY are the experts in their life. I'm here to ask the questions to help them discover their own expertise.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Twice a week I teach a group fitness class for Active Older Adults at my local YMCA. I have approximately 35 students with an average age of 65, and I love them all! They think I'm giving them an opportunity for better fitness, but they are really filling my soul with joy and laughter every single time I see them. My other favorite thing to do is travel. I have been to many countries in my life, but I have many more to go! My current bucket-list trip is to the British Isles.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
At my 40th birthday party a few years ago, my little brother toasted me and told the room that my most defining traits are optimism and loyalty. He was right. I will always be a "glass half-full" type of person and if I'm on your team, I've got your back no matter what.
