Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor after providing psycho-educational groups to students and realizing that some students were catching on to lessons at different paces. I found myself wishing I had more time and flexibility to cater the information more specifically for each individual student in hopes to meeting their goals.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I believe I work best with clients who are desperate for a change and are motivated to put in the work inside and outside of sessions.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with adult clients because that is the population I have the least experience in providing therapy.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew as long as they have a desire there is always room to accomplish more.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because I believed Thriveworks could help me grow as a therapist and also provide me the flexibility to have the best work/mom life balance.
What inspires you?
My five year old son inspires me so much. He truly believes you can do anything you want to do and be whatever and whoever you want to be. Knowing how thoughts are linked to behaviors, I believe he inspires me to chase after all I want to become and then my actions will follow.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During the first session, clients can expect to answer questions about what inspired them to seek counseling, brief history of their life, previous experiences with therapy if any, and what they hope to achieve during treatment.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to get a glimpse of my client's story as to what led them to wanting to speak to a therapist. I want to answer as many questions as I can for my client to ensure they feel confident and comfortable while working towards their specific goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I want my clients to know that while I am new to being a therapist, I'm not new to being a social worker. I am committed to meeting my clients where they are, and gaining new knowledge in various topics to help individuals reach their goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my time off I enjoy spending time with my son, family, and friends. I love being outside, going to the gym, playing guitar, exploring the surrounding areas and trying new things. Lastly, I love trying out local coffee shops and breweries
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I've come to learn that I really enjoy slow pace as much as I love fast pace. Balance is a beautiful thing.
