About Provider

About Khavita

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 7 years of experience providing therapy to adolescents, adults, and families. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, mood disorders, eating disorders, and major life transitions. I have a strong focus on working with underserved populations and minority communities, supporting clients navigating identity development, cultural stressors, and systemic challenges. My work emphasizes culturally responsive, trauma-informed care in a safe and supportive environment.

I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Trauma-Informed Care, along with psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches. I help clients understand the root causes of emotional patterns, heal from trauma, and improve relationships through deeper insight and practical coping skills.

I recognize the courage it takes to seek support and am dedicated to ensuring each client feels seen, heard, and valued. I warmly welcome individuals from all walks of life who are seeking guidance, healing, and personal growth.

Get to know Khavita

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

A social worker helped guide me towards my own healing journey. This personal experience fueled my passion for the helping profession and inspired me to support others on their paths to healing and recovery.

What types of clients do you work with best?

My approach is best suited for clients who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives and are open to exploring new perspectives and strategies, particularly those who are interested in challenging rigid thinking to enhance their problem-solving skills and overall well-being.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I'm most excited to work with clients who are open to exploring their identity, addressing their trauma, and aligning their lives with their core values, ultimately improving their quality of life.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that their self-worth and strength comes from within, believing in themselves and being authentic is key to their growth and healing journey.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because it's a company led by clinicians who deeply understand the significance of accessible mental health care. They prioritize work-life balance, enabling therapists to provide the best possible care to clients while maintaining their own well-being.

What inspires you?

Witnessing the resilience and determination of my parents as immigrants, how they built a life in America, motivates me to face challenges and teach others to do the same. It's an inspirational story of triumph over adversity that I carry with me every day.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Expect a warm and welcoming environment where you have the opportunity to share your story, past/current struggles, and goals for therapy. The focus is on building rapport and understanding your unique experiences.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

Connect is key, I want to understand your issues and collaborate to set goals. The focus is on establishing a strong therapeutic alliance.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

I prioritize authenticity and genuineness, striving to create a professional yet down-to-earth environment where you feel comfortable and understood without judgement.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

Family is my fun. Most weekends our lively Italian/Indian family gets together, sharing stories, laughs, cooking, dancing and enjoying music.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I'm a wanderlust at heart, always eager to explore diverse cultures and travel around the world, it speaks to the curious child I've always been.
