About Fabiola

Hi, I'm Fabiola Metezier, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern with a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology. I love all things therapy, and simply put, meeting people where they are for forward progression. My passion for the field has gifted me the privilege of servicing children, adolescents, and adults navigating behavioral and mood disorders and trauma. There's no one-size-fits-all approach, and my joy is to tailor methods to honor my client's unique story. Whether you're adjusting to life transitions, mental health challenges, or seeking faith-based guidance, together we'll advance recovery and strengthen autonomy.

My approach is flexible and adaptable to you, combining proven methods, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with culturally sensitive exploration to help you manage symptoms, build resilience, and create a more fulfilling, balanced life.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or in need of a space where your emotions and spiritual beliefs can be honored, I’m here to listen and walk with you. I warmly invite you to reach out whenever you feel ready. My door is open.

"I've experienced first-hand the beauty of realizing I don't need to figure it out alone, and taking hold of the hand already extended to help me—pain and tragedy didn't have the final say for me, and it doesn't have to for you."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

The call to become a counselor first came at the ripe age of 11 when I felt a mental health crisis hit my home. In the same year of a family member receiving a lifealtering mental health diagnosis, we experienced the sudden loss of a grandparent and the swift mental decline of the one left behind. My Christian immigrant family lacked the language to accurately describe the grief and severe mental illness, and after looking outward, we lacked the proper support to appropriately address it. I became a counselor to fill the gaps whose impact stretched across a decade. Without culturally sensitive providers willing to account for faith, feelings of confusion led to a delay of care and a worsening of symptoms. There was a need for someone to bridge the gap, and decades later, it is one I have chosen to help fill.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with clients who have found the courage to get their foot in the door and begin their therapeutic journey. There's no need for perfection, and there's no room for judgement. All that's required is honesty and a willingness to change.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

If we tracked and monitored our mental health as much as we do our physical health, it wouldn't feel as strange as it may to nurture it with the help of a professional. Similar to how it doesn't take a crisis to visit a PCP, it doesn't take an emergency to finally speak with a therapist. Therapy is for anyone at any time. Therapy is for everyone. And that includes you.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

My therapy process begins with learning the history my client carries, the mosaic of who they are, and their reasons for coming to therapy. We exchange trading cards and secrets to build an understanding of each other, using an abundance of humor to lighten what can feel heavy. We identify how I can best support you, your current level of comfort, and your current level of readiness to address them head on. We make a plan and carry it out together, step by step.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

I am a daughter of immigrants who was raised in a Christian family, and I stand witness to the power of faith overlapping with therapy. My personal experience helping friends and family alike navigate the often taboo realities of bipolar disorder, suicidal ideation, and trauma has fueled my passion to dive into what some perceive as the trenches, so that I can help others stand again.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I integrate culturally considerate approaches that account for personal identity, life stages, and faith. The process of determining my client's plan is collaborative—together we decide what's most appropriate and necessary.
