About Catherine
Dr. Catherine Bukovitz is a licensed doctor in the medical field and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. She is nationally board-certified and also holds a certification as an Addiction Specialist. Dr. Catherine works with adults, and she is caring and non-judgmental while being insightful and solution-focused in working with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, and addictions.
Dr. Catherine is a graduate of Purdue University - Hammond and received her doctorate in Psychology and Education from Argosy University - Sarasota. She has taught in higher education and her experience in counseling has allowed her to be caring but realistic with her clients.
Life can be confusing and overwhelming at times. Dr. Catherine is here to help you work through difficult things and offer a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor strongly encouraged by the results from the Strong Career Interest Inventory and the Myers-Brigg Personality Test and a love of all things psychological. Both instruments were correct in confirming counseling is where my strengths lie.
What types of clients do you work with best?
The types of clients I work best with are those who are looking for a new way forward in learning new skills to improve their lives.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with all types of clients as each individual brings their own new perspective and history of life in each situation. Everyone is unique.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew the power that lies within them to re-create themselves into the person they want to be to live their fullest life.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because Thriveworks has demonstrated to be a quality enterprise. Early on in my practice I worked with the president, Anthony, and Thriveworks is a reflection of his upstanding professional ethos.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the numerous choices we have in making our lives wonderful.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session clients can expect to discuss the issues in their life that are causing them unrest in an environment of safety without fear of being judged.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session I try to accomplish a friendly and comfortable atmosphere/environment moving toward a trusting client/counselor relationship.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Before scheduling the first counseling session clients should know I am empathetic, possess a sense of humor and down to earth.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my time off for fun I read and bake.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
What defines me as a non-professional is my sense of decency and giving everyone the understanding that they're doing the best they can within the moment.
