About Sarajo Bunny
Sarajo "Bunny" Falk Psy.D. is a Licensed Psychologist, with 30 years of experience. She has worked with adults and older adults as well as providing supervision for psychology students and interns. Pain management, depression, anxiety, and grief and loss that often accompanies pain have been a special focus of her work. Dr. Falk believes that a collaborative relationship with the client is the most productive way to set goals and realize successful outcomes.
Dr. Falk earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Her career in the helping professions began as a Registered Nurse. Although not actively practicing as an RN, She remains licensed and stays current. The stresses and challenges of being a working mother of three children, and maintaining a work-life balance have not been forgotten. Dr. Falk's conceptual approach is from a cognitive-behavioral basis. Collaboration with the client is very important to ensure that she and the client are in agreement when it comes to treatment strategies and goals.
We have all been through a great deal of stress and tremendous challenges over the last couple of years. Regaining our equilibrium has been hard. Dr. Falk believes that she can support you and help you find that inner strength and resilience needed to cope with stress and struggles. It is not easy to ask for help: You are to be admired. If you are ready to do the work, call for an appointment.

"Thirty years of experience has taught me that every client's situation or problem is unique, but there is always hope for a solution or better outcome once the client and I, in collaboration, find their inner strength and resilience to tap into."

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Human behavior always fascinated me. Not so much the why of it, but what happened in their life that taught some people to behave the way they did. As an RN, I noticed that once patients were made aware of what was the thinking that resulted in some of their behaviors, they became much less angry, anxious, and non-compliant with treatment.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Any client that has the courage to come to therapy excites me. They are to be admired and told they are courageous for taking that step of asking for help.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Nothing the client says or does will result in negative judgment. Therapy is a safe place. It should be safe enough to tell the therapist if you are angry or disappointed in them, without fear of the therapist "not liking you."
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
The organization is well-organized, has a good reputation, and onboarding has been very impressive.
What inspires you?
The kindness of others to help those in need. People who listen without judgment. People who disagree with your views on some subject vehemently, but still laugh at your jokes and hug you goodbye when you part.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I will explain, briefly, how I see my responsibilities in treatment and their responsibilities. I will explain the limitations of confidentiality and the difference between that and privacy. I will describe how I conceptualize issues from a cognitive behavioral perspective, and how that means that we will have a collaborative relationship. I will explain the limitation of therapy and inform them that I am not a miracle worker, I can make mistakes, they can tell me when they are angry at me, and ask me questions too.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I will set initial goals with every client in the first session. They will be very specific, measurable, and time-limited. I want the client to schedule a second session.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am a Licensed Psychologist. I work from a Cognitive-Behavioral perspective. Goal setting is a priority to reach a successful outcome. I admire every client who enters therapy because it is not an easy thing to do.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to cook. I also love to eat what I cook and what others eat what I have cooked. I am also a voracious reader. Mysteries, biographies, and cookbooks (of course!).
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I have been told that I am very easygoing and flexible. Change, even last-minute changes do not bother me. I am also a very good listener. I believe silence is golden.
