About Denine

Hi, I'm Dr. Denine Hasan, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a doctorate in Educational Leadership, an Ed.S., and a master's degree in Counseling. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults facing anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, low self-esteem, stress, relationship challenges, and trauma. I provide a compassionate, supportive space where clients can develop healthy coping skills, build resilience, improve communication, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based, integrating CBT, person-centered, and solution-focused therapy. I specialize in anxiety, grief, life transitions, self-esteem, and stress management. Together, we'll identify practical strategies, build resilience, and create lasting change in a safe, supportive environment.

Taking the first step toward healing isn't always easy, but you don't have to face life's challenges alone. I would be honored to support you on your journey toward growth, healing, and hope, and I look forward to helping you take the next step when you're ready.

Get to know Denine

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor because I've seen firsthand how life's challenges, grief, and difficult experiences can affect every part of a person's life. Those experiences inspired me to help others find hope, healing, and resilience. I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they can feel heard, develop healthier coping skills, and realize they have the strength to overcome life's obstacles. Being able to walk alongside people as they grow and heal is one of the greatest privileges of my work.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work well with adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, trauma, and low self-esteem. Many of my clients are seeking a safe, supportive space where they can process their experiences, strengthen their coping skills, and create meaningful change. I also find that many Black women are drawn to my practice because they value working with someone who understands the unique pressures they often face and provides a culturally responsive, compassionate environment where they feel heard, validated, and empowered.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish every client knew that healing isn't about being perfect or "getting over" something quickly—it's about making steady progress, learning new ways to cope, and giving yourself grace along the way. Therapy is a collaborative process, and meaningful change happens when you feel safe enough to be honest, curious, and open to growth. Even small steps forward can lead to lasting transformation.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where we begin getting to know one another. I'll take time to learn about your concerns, personal history, strengths, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we'll identify your goals and create a plan that feels meaningful and achievable. In the early stages of therapy, we'll focus on building trust, increasing selfawareness, and developing practical tools to help you navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is informed by both my professional experiences and my personal understanding of life's challenges, transitions, and moments of loss. These experiences have deepened my belief that every person deserves compassion, understanding, and a safe space to be their authentic self. I value meeting clients where they are, honoring their individual stories, and helping them recognize their strengths while developing the tools needed for healing, growth, and resilience.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I believe every client is unique, so I take the time to understand your experiences, strengths, goals, and what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. I tailor each session by integrating evidence-based approaches, such as CBT, person-centered, and solution-focused therapy, while creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and supported. Together, we'll develop a personalized plan that fits your needs, empowers your growth, and helps you make meaningful, lasting changes.
