About Jewell
Jewell Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 20 years of experience supporting individuals through emotional, behavioral, and crisis-related challenges. She has worked extensively with clients experiencing severe mental health concerns, guiding them with compassion, clarity, and skill. Jewell’s collaborative, person-centered approach has consistently helped her build strong therapeutic relationships while promoting safety, resilience, and emotional well-being across diverse populations.
Jewell earned her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Mercy College. She incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and rational emotive behavioral therapy to support healing from trauma and help clients navigate emotional symptoms, strengthen coping skills, and create lasting change.
Jewell is passionate about helping clients feel seen, safe, and empowered in their healing process. She provides a warm and supportive environment for growth, focusing on building trust and developing tailored strategies to meet each individual’s needs. Her goal is to walk alongside clients as they move forward with clarity, confidence, and hope.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I was driven to be able to work with other in providing support, resources, and providing skills.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are willing to show up for themselves.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with all clients but especially teenagers to adulthood.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
To be able to reach clients who are in need of therapy that works for them.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by clients who thrive and grow in their therapy from beginning to end.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
To be greeted with a genuine smile and welcoming presence in the initial session.

I want to accomplish what your goals are in the first session.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy taking walks during the day when the weather is nice and spending time with family.
