Clevetta Gilliam, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, brings 40 years of experience supporting individuals through life’s challenges, including relationship struggles, loss, stress, and trauma. She is dedicated to creating a supportive, trusting therapeutic space where clients can explore their concerns and move toward more fulfilling and meaningful lives. Clevetta empowers preteens through seniors to discover resilience and embrace positive change, encouraging growth both personally and within their relationships.


Clevetta earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. She integrates psychodynamic and family systems perspectives with cognitive-behavioral strategies, incorporating holistic stress management approaches such as mindfulness, diet, and exercise to help clients build healthier coping skills.


Clevetta is passionate about serving Black, Brown, and Caucasian adolescents, survivors of domestic violence, and those healing from sexual assault. She is committed to advancing research on generational trauma and strives to provide care that fosters empowerment, healing, and hope for every client she serves.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided early on in life to become a psychiatric provider, watching and working with my mother who is a psychiatric RN, Mental Health Counselor. I dedicated myself to providing trauma informed gender responsive help to individuals, couples and families to improve quality of life. What types of clients do you work with best?


I work well with all types of clients. I have been trained to not turn anyone away and I try not to refer a client away . My four years of master's of science clinical mental health cousnseling education afforded me the opportunites to be open, minded & inquistive to study indepth many diverse psychological approaches. Some of the clients that I work with best are those suffering from depression, anxiety, ADHD, Anger, Bipolar Disorder, Grief/Loss, Eating Disorders, Self Esteem, and Relationships.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?



The type of clients that I am excited to work with are those experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, Anger, Bipolar Disorder, Grief/Loss, Eating Disorders, Self Esteem, and Relationships and substance use.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?



One thing that I wish all clients know, is for them to make therapy what they want to be. With the guidance of the counselor together create the clients sounding board; how they want the therapy session to go, and to focus on their needs.

I believe Thriveworks is offering me everything that I need to be a sucessfully licensed counselor.

What inspires you?


What inspires me is seeing an indiviual, couple or family come into my counseling broken; and through much guided heart & soul work, find their own solutions and desired outcomes. That inspires me.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?


During the first counseling session, client can expect for me to focus on getting to know the client and understanding why they are there seeking therapy. Furthermore, I will ask the client about their background, current challenges, and were on their therapy goals. Also, explaining my approach and most importantly confidentiality policy. During this first session we will assess if there is a good client/therapist fit and to start building trust.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?



I would like to accomplish getting to know the client and understanding why they are there seeking therapy.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?


That they can trust me.That I am a professioanl supported by other professionals. Furthermore, I will use the best stratigies to help the client be there best selves. Also, clients should know that I am compassionate & a wonderful listener and practice solution-based therapy.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?


I love any physical activity my newest adventure is kayaking. I love the outdoors, walking, and the gym for continued exercising,

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I am loved as a daughter, mother, sister friend, -One who cares, and always finds ways to be thoughtful. A fun person to be around, with my own unique perspective and own wisdom to share.
