About Bertha

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Connecticut with six years of experience providing therapy and case management. I earned my MSW from Yeshiva University's Wurzweiler School of Social Work in 2020. I've worked with children, adolescents, families, adults, and seniors, and I specialize in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I also provide therapy to adults and seniors experiencing depression, anxiety, and substance use challenges. My goal is to empower every client and family with a safe, supportive environment that fosters resilience and growth.

I use evidence-based methods to support parents, children, and families, including Parent Training in Behavior Management, social skills training, family-based therapies, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I work with the whole family to build lasting change. With adults, I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to strengthen motivation for change.

I recognize the challenges families face raising children with developmental disabilities. My approach equips parents with skills to support their child at home, school, and in the community. With adults and seniors, I use Motivational Interviewing to build insight and resilience. I encourage you to schedule an appointment so we can work together.

Get to know Bertha

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a psychotherapist to help families to remain together.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work well with pre- school children, preadolescents, seniors and adults.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Change takes time, patience and commitment. We all are capable of change.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

During our first session, I would like to get to know you what brought you to the practice and what are you looking to get out therapy.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is guided by a deep respect for the resilience of children, adults, and families who navigate complex emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Over the years, working closely with families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD has shaped my understanding of how profoundly a child’s needs impact the entire family system. Witnessing parents advocate, adapt, and persist through difficult moments has strengthened my commitment to providing interventions that are practical, evidence‑based, and grounded in empathy.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I tailor therapy by conducting a thorough assessment of each client’s developmental history, presenting concerns, family dynamics, cultural background, and environmental stressors. This allows me to identify the specific factors influencing their behavior, emotional functioning, and overall well‑being. I then select interventions that align with the client’s strengths, learning style, and treatment goals. For children and families, I integrate evidence‑based approaches such as parent‑training models, behavioral interventions, social‑skills development, and psychoeducation. I adjust the pace, structure, and level of parent involvement based on the child’s developmental needs and the family’s capacity for change. When trauma, sensory challenges, or co‑occurring conditions are present, I incorporate trauma‑focused strategies, CBT, and supportive family‑based interventions to ensure treatment remains comprehensive and responsive.
