Hi, I’m Barbara JeanLouis, MS, LPCA, a remote outpatient therapist with clinical experience across inpatient, community, and private practice settings. I work with adults and adolescents navigating anxiety, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, men and women’s issues, addiction, ADHD, abuse recovery, and multicultural identity and adjustment. My clients are often seeking relief from stress and emotional overwhelm, wanting to build self-trust, compassion, and looking for a safe space to cultivate practical tools for everyday life.

My approach is warm, conversational, and grounded in empathy, body awareness, and mindfulness. I integrate evidence-based CBT, CFT, DBT, effective coaching, and MI to help you process trauma, regulate emotions, and reframe patterns. In our sessions, you can expect a safe, collaborative space to build practical tools and grow at your own pace.

Taking the first step toward healing takes genuine courage, but you don't have to navigate it alone. You deserve a space where you are fully heard, valued, and supported as you grow. Whenever you're ready to reconnect with your inner wisdom, peace, and strength, I invite you to reach out.

""As one who has experienced personal anxiety/trauma and loss, as a clinician whose passion for mental health was sparked by my own transformative experience in therapy, art, and yoga, I am dedicated to helping people move through anxiety, PTSD, depression, addiction, abuse recovery, and life transitions with confidence and clarity.""

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

My passion for mental health work began through my own healing journey. Through my youth, I struggled with severe anxiety, trauma, family dynamics, and multicultural identity and adjustment. I found support through therapy and yoga. My yoga teacher, who was also my therapist, gave me the first tools that helped me manage my anxiety and reconnect back with myself. That experience transformed me and inspired my desire to help others find their own sense of peace, confidence, and clarity.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with adults and adolescents navigating life transitions, social anxiety, trauma, PTSD, eating disorders, abuse recovery, men and women's issues, and multicultural identity and adjustment. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by stress, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in unhelpful patterns. They are seeking relief, emotional balance, and a supportive, nonjudgmental space to build self-trust and practical tools for everyday life. Whether you are processing past experiences, managing mood disorders, or learning to navigate change with more selfcompassion, I meet you where you are and collaborate with you at your own pace.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish all clients knew that healing is not about becoming someone completely new or achieving perfection, it is about returning to yourself with self-trust, selfcompassion, and the tools to navigate life at your own pace. True growth isn't linear, and feeling overwhelmed or stepping back into old patterns doesn't mean you're failing. Therapy isn't about being judged or "fixed"; it's a collaborative partnership where your thoughts and feelings are welcomed without judgment, giving you the freedom and safety to build a life rooted in genuine peace and clarity.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In your first session and early stages of care, you can expect a warm, conversational, and unhurried space centered on helping you feel safe, seen, and understood. We will start by exploring what brought you to therapy, discussing your goals, and getting to know your unique story at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Together, we’ll build a foundation of trust while introducing practical, evidence-based tools, like mindfulness, body awareness, DBT, CFT, and CBT, to help you regulate emotions, process, build self-trust, and navigate life with confidence.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is deeply informed by my own lived experience overcoming severe anxiety and trauma in my early twenties through therapy and yoga, which taught me firsthand how transformative the right tools can be. Grounded in values of empathy, warmth, and curiosity, I believe that healing begins when you feel truly safe, seen, and understood. I am dedicated to offering a nonjudgmental, personcentered space where clients of all backgrounds can process life's transitions, build self-trust, and cultivate practical tools for lasting emotional balance.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I tailor therapy by taking a person-centered, collaborative approach that meets you exactly where you are, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. Recognizing that your background, history, and goals are unique, I integrate evidence-based modalities, such as CBT, CFT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, body awareness, and mindfulness, to fit what resonates best with you. Whether we are focusing on daily stress management, processing trauma, navigating addiction care, or exploring multicultural identity and life transitions, we move at your pace, adapting our work as you build tools and self-trust.
