Why did you decide to become a counselor?
One of many reasons why I decided to become a counselor is because there aren’t Spanish speaking providers. I enjoy working and helping others.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Children and adults.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Children, because as adults we can learn so much from children.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That they aren’t alone.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I decided to apply and work at Thriveworks because of their flexibility and through this company I will be able to work with clients that don’t necessarily have a 9-5 job.
What inspires you?
My daughters, I’ve learned so much from them. How to be a better mother each day & they are a reminder that children have a voice. I want to be the voice of a child.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Greeting them with a smile and respect. I usually briefly explain how the first session would look like and answer any questions they might have about the paperwork, the process, the symptoms etc.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
The goal is to always gather as much information as possible however it is important to show the client my support and that they are in fact I’m charge of their lives.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I’m easy going, flexible, I like honesty, if a client isn’t happy or something bothered them in session to please let me know. Also, if I notice that a very sensitive topic was brought up in session, if the client chooses to change the subject it’s ok. They are the driver and I’m the passenger.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy hiking. I challenged myself to hike Mt. Washington about two years ago. Now, I’m slowly retraining to go back and hike it again. I enjoy photography, I enjoy long drives with my girls, I enjoy cuddling with my fur babies.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I would say that I’m always willing to help.
