Miranda Bortmas is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 10 years of experience in the field. She is passionate about helping individuals so they can heal and live the life they envision for themselves. She specializes in depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, major life transitions, grief, interpersonal conflicts, and work stress. Miranda completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Pittsburgh in 2018.
Miranda utilizes multiple treatment modalities such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused therapy, strength-based therapy, person-centered therapy, and problem-solving therapy.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I enjoy talking with others. It fills me up to see others make progress for themselves.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with women, adults, and adolescents struggling with borderline personality (BPD), generalized anxiety (GAD), and major depression (MDD).
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy is hard work, but you can do this.

Seeing individuals being their true selves.

We will focus on building rapport with each other along with exploring goals for therapy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Build rapport, set goals, and learn what kind of therapist they are interested in having/decide best techniques.

I work with a lot of energy and excitement
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
At home, I foster puppies.

I'm just trying to do the best I can every day, in a way that makes me feel proud.
