About Ana
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 7 years of clinical practice and over 2 decades of immersion in the field of human psychology. Originally from Cuba, I specialize in helping clients who are ready to navigate the aftermath of past trauma. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Psychology and a Master of Science in Psychology from Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. I also obtained a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University.
Clients with trauma often have low self-esteem, negative self-talk, and difficulty setting boundaries. I help them bring unconscious patterns into awareness, connect with emotions and intuition, and reclaim agency. I also support high-achievers overwhelmed by perfectionism and those processing trauma from discrimination, bullying, abuse, and neglect.
The most important part of this process is that my clients feel safe, validated, and recognized as unique human beings with very specific lived experiences. If you are looking for a space where your whole self is welcomed, accepted, and honored, I invite you to reach out and begin this journey together.

"Having experienced trauma myself, I can understand how these events can affect our self-worth and agency."
Get to know Ana
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I felt fascinated by the human mind.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Clients who are ready for deep work and feel stable in their current lives, and high-achieving individuals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Healing is an ongoing process, and relapses are part of this process.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
First session: Review of the paperwork, limits of confidentiality, practice policies, telehealth boundaries, etcetera. Gathering biopsychosocial history and assessment. The therapist will assess if the client's presenting issues and goals for treatment are within her scope of practice and will transfer the client or refer out if the client needs a different specialist or level of care. Clients also have the opportunity to assess if the therapist is a good fit for their needs and preferences. Second session: Client and therapist will collaboratively create a treatment plan and review diagnoses. In the first stages, the therapist will ask clarifying questions and will actively listen to clients' concerns. The therapist will often paraphrase what the client says to better understand how the client experiences the world and their own issues. The client and therapist can collaboratively assess which modality of treatment will be more beneficial for the client.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Respect, compassion, and unconditional positive regard.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Collaboration and feedback from clients. I like to get to know my clients and they will choose the approach that works best for them. I often ask for feedback.
