Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have had a passion for psychology and the mind since I was a teenager. I benefitted from support from a therapist to address my own mental health and wellness, and I fell in love with the field. This was the beginning of what would be my career today. I then continued to begin my career in clinical social work and was able to combine my passion for psychology, social work, and social justice into the ability to help more people feel seen and heard in the context of their world.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with Clients who are open to looking at themselves who may offer a different perspective.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with Clients who are curious about or are wanting more support in relation to self-compassion & trust, and who maybe have never worked with a therapist before, have been skeptical even, but are willing to try.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all Clients knew that therapists & mental health professionals do not "have" all of the answers, we support you to find the solutions & approaches that work best for you after establishing a therapeutic alliance. We are also not without our own experiences, and have had our own unique path to personal growth.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks is an opportunity that came to my life at a unique and exciting time. Thriveworks appreciated my experience and approach to therapy, and it felt like a natural fit for professional clinical practice as a licensed therapist.
What inspires you?
I am often inspired by human kindness, community, nature, art, and creative outlets.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect the first session to be viewed as a way to gather a snapshot of what brings them into wanting to work with a therapist. We will discuss informed consent to therapy services, and then an initial intake assessment to guide the treatment plan that will be used to support their goals.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to be able to establish therapeutic trust & rapport with the Client, which guides the therapeutic alliance.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Expect a warm, compassionate, personable atmosphere. I bring my full self into my sessions so that we can work together in a way that feels authentic and wholesome for you.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy creative outlets including crochet, bullet/art journaling, traveling, enjoying delicious food, and spending time with my loved ones.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My loved ones would likely name my warm approach to life, creativity, sense of humor & passion as some of my defining characteristics.
