Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Mental health was taboo in my culture and not as easily accessible, as so I found purpose in being able to provide a perspective and resources not only to my own community, but to others in need as well.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Any that are open to working with me. I feel I do well with building rapport with any clients, however I know that therapy is not a one size fits all, so I am here to help guide individuals to find the best placement for them, and hopefully they match well with me.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
It is a process. It takes time and consistency to build awareness and implement mindful changes.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
To focus on understanding and gaining insight into the the actual problem and how it is impacting their daily functioning.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Hardships, loss, and ever changing relationships has truly guided my development as a clinician. I cannot ask my client's to do work that I myself am not willing to do.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Leading with empathy and unconditional positive regard. Allowing client's a judgement free space to explore at a pace that feels safe.
