Why did you decide to become a counselor?
The easy answer would be "because I want to help people navigate the roadblocks in life". The actual answer, which is more vague is that I have felt most of my life that a counselor is what I was called to be. It took a while but I finally was able to follow that calling and here I am.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients that are motivated to do the work necessary for change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that seeking therapy does not mean you are weak or that there is something wrong with you.
What inspires you?
That is a big question. I am inspired by so many things. In clients I am inspired when they begin to see positive change within themselves, and that motivates them to keep going.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
First session is about getting to know each other and see if it is a good fit. I want clients to know that in session is a safe, judgement free, and confidential environment.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like to establish a foundation of trust, and build a rapport that has the client wanting to come back for the next session.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy travelling and reading on my time off.
