Get to know Lee

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I had a unique opportunity in my undergraduate program to work with an adoption agency. In the agency I met women and families that were brought together in a very unique way. Each had their own challenges in life's journey. I was able to help those who were struggling to overcome barriers in their lives. Counseling offered support, guidance, encouragement, and helped individuals and families attain their goals. I went on to get a Master's in Counseling and learned how to help others with their unique challenges in diverse settings and backgrounds. No matter who you are, everyone experiences challenges in our life and sometimes we need a helping hand to support us and provide guidance, until we can stand alone and arrive at our desired destination a stronger and healthier person.

What types of clients do you work with best?

On a telehealth platform, I work well with late adolescent and adult clients.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with all clients seeking to create positive change.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Counseling is not easy, change can be scary and hard, it is work with good and bad days. However, if you stay the course, counseling does work.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because they offer both remote and traditional counseling in a local setting to better assist in client needs and transitions.

What inspires you?

Two words inspire me. Hope and possibilities.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Clients can expect to gain insight into counseling and begin to explore what brought them to this path, what they want their journey to look like, and their expected destination or outcomes.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want an individual to walk away from their first session with hope, understanding, support, and direction.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I genuinely want to help them find what they are looking for in terms of change and being a healthier them.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy spending my time with family.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

One thing that defines me is willpower. I believe that where there is a will, there is a way.

Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?

Empowering a client to believe in themselves, love themselves, and helping them to attain their desired outcomes through counseling is success.
