About Heidi

I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) with 21 years of experience supporting individuals, children, and families through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-criticism, relationship concerns, and substance-use disorders. I have extensive experience working with veterans, adolescents, foster and adoptive families, members of the LGBTQIA+ community; offer Christian counseling.

I earned my master’s degree in social work from New Mexico Highlands University. My approach is trauma-focused and integrative, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy. I am professionally trained in trauma systems therapy and tailor treatment to each client’s unique strengths and needs.

I believe all emotions are valid and deserve compassionate exploration. Together, we will create a personalized treatment plan focused on strengthening insight, building resilience, and improving daily functioning. I look forward to supporting you as you take meaningful steps toward healing and growth.

Get to know Heidi

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

To help others improve their lives and functioning.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with clients who have made the decision to get help and are able to actively participate in services.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

That therapy is a process and that it is possible to heal.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

A warm inviting professional who is eager to listen and develop a plan and to change the current plan if necessary to meet the client's goals.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

I have had personal trials and traumatic events in my life and have used therapy to overcome and develop lifelong skills to manage life events. I strongly believe in the phrase that everyone is lovable, capable and valuable.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

When I meet with a client, I ask questions but spend more time listening to what the client is saying. By listening and asking questions, I tailor the therapeutic intervention to the needs of the client.
