About Dr Aneel
I’m a board-certified psychiatrist based in Kansas City with experience treating adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other common mental health challenges. I believe effective care starts with listening and understanding each person’s unique story. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and evidence-based, and I work closely with patients to develop practical treatment plans that help improve focus, mood, and overall quality of life.
My approach is collaborative and practical. I take time to understand each patient’s goals and challenges, then work together to create a clear, evidence-based treatment plan. Patients can expect thoughtful conversations, careful medication management, and a focus on helping them make meaningful progress in daily life.
I know reaching out for mental health care can feel like a big step. My goal is to create a supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable discussing what’s going on. If you’re looking for thoughtful, collaborative care, I’d be glad to work with you.

"My goal is to provide thoughtful, compassionate psychiatric care that helps people move forward with greater clarity, stability, and confidence."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I was drawn to psychiatry because mental health affects every part of a person’s life—how they think, feel, work, and connect with others. I’ve always been interested in understanding people’s stories and helping them find practical paths forward when they feel stuck or overwhelmed.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults who want to better understand their mental health and take an active role in improving it. Many of my patients are dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, or challenges with focus, stress, and daily functioning. I especially enjoy working with people who are thoughtful, curious about their health, and motivated to make meaningful progress.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish everyone knew is that mental health challenges are far more common than people realize, and needing support is not a sign of weakness. Many people struggle silently for a long time before seeking help. The healing process often begins simply by talking openly and gaining a clearer understanding of what’s going on.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, my goal is to understand your story — what you’ve been experiencing, what has or hasn’t helped in the past, and what you’re hoping to change. Early sessions focus on gaining clarity about the challenges you’re facing and developing a thoughtful plan for moving forward, which may include medication management, practical strategies, or coordination with therapy.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I value listening carefully and approaching each person with curiosity, respect, and empathy. Everyone’s experience with mental health is different, and I believe good care starts with understanding someone’s story. My goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based guidance that helps patients feel supported while making meaningful progress.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I start by understanding each patient’s experiences, goals, and what has or hasn’t worked for them in the past. From there, we develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, practical strategies, and coordination with therapy when helpful. I view treatment as a collaborative process that evolves as we learn what works best.
