About Olukemi
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 4 years of experience supporting clients in managing their mental health through compassionate, evidence-based care. I provide treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, mood disorders, and life transitions. My work is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and respect, and I strive to help each person feel heard, understood, and supported throughout their healing journey.
I earned my master of science in nursing from Walden University. My clinical approach integrates medication management, trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness-based practices, and person-centered principles. I tailor treatment to your unique needs and work to create a supportive, inclusive, and culturally sensitive space.
My goal is to help you gain clarity, build resilience, and feel more empowered in your daily life. I offer a compassionate environment where you can work toward meaningful and lasting change at a pace that feels right for you. What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Healing is not a straightforward path because advancement frequently involves obstacles, and such instances do not signify failures; they are simply a typical and significant aspect of the journey.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The initial session will include a comprehensive evaluation of the client's mental health and medical history, as well as a diagnosis and treatment strategy, information about the condition, and a discussion of follow-up care or medication management. It is also a chance to inquire and begin establishing a cooperative relationship.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is rooted in empathy, cultural humility, and profound respect for every individual’s personal experience. Observing how mental health issues impact individuals and families has shown me the value of listening without bias, respecting people’s narratives, and offering support that feels cooperative rather than medical. These principles enable me to establish a secure and nurturing environment where clients feel acknowledged, understood, and empowered throughout their recovery journey.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I customize therapy by adopting a holistic, personalized method—paying careful attention to each client’s narrative, recognizing their objectives, cultural context, strengths, and barriers, and then selecting evidence-based techniques that align with their identity, not merely their diagnosis. I combine approaches like CBT, MBCT, and supportive therapy, modifying the tempo according to readiness, and working with clients to develop a plan that is practical, respectful, and empowering. I aim to connect with every individual at their current state and assist them in progressing towards their desired destination.
