Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
“Growing up in Cameroon, I witnessed how people living with mental illness were often misunderstood, stigmatized, or left without the care and support they deserved. Seeing individuals struggling on the streets deeply saddened me and shaped my passion for mental health. It inspired me to become a compassionate mental health provider who believes that everyone deserves to be heard, respected, treated with dignity, and given the opportunity to heal and live a fulfilling life.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish every client knew that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and healing is a journey—not a race. You do not have to have everything figured out before asking for support. With patience, compassion, the right treatment, and a trusting therapeutic relationship, meaningful change and growth are possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, I will take time to listen, understand your concerns, learn about your history, and discuss your goals for treatment. Together, we will develop an individualized plan that may include therapy, medication management, coping strategies, and education. Early sessions are focused on building trust, creating a safe space, and identifying practical steps toward meaningful progress.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My experiences growing up in Cameroon shaped my deep compassion for people living with mental health challenges. I witnessed how stigma, limited resources, and lack of understanding could leave individuals without the support they needed, including people struggling on the streets. These experiences strengthened my belief that everyone deserves dignity, compassion, understanding, and access to quality mental health care. As a provider, I value listening without judgment, respecting each person’s unique story, and partnering with clients to help them feel empowered, hopeful, and supported throughout their healing journey.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor care by first listening closely to each client’s story, concerns, strengths, culture, and treatment goals. I recognize that no two people experience mental health challenges in the same way, so I use a collaborative, individualized approach that may incorporate evidence-based therapy, medication management, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies. We regularly evaluate progress and adjust the treatment plan together to ensure care remains effective, respectful, and meaningful.
