About JoAnn
I am a dual-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 4 years of experience. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals of all ages, supporting clients as they manage concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, and life transitions. My approach emphasizes building resilience, fostering self-awareness, and guiding clients toward strategies that empower them to thrive in their daily lives with confidence, balance, and clarity.
I earned my Master’s in Nursing from Midwestern State University, where I developed a strong foundation in psychiatric and family health. My practice focuses on client-centered care, using therapeutic approaches that strengthen coping skills, improve communication, and support meaningful personal growth.
I strive to create a supportive space where clients feel understood, respected, and motivated to reach their goals. By focusing on strengths and celebrating progress, I help individuals navigate challenges with renewed purpose and confidence. Together, we will work toward lasting change and overall well-being.

"Having navigated my own journey of grief and embracing my true self, I'm here to support you with authenticity, compassion, and a deep understanding of what it means to heal and grow."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider
I became a psychiatric mental health provider because you
I care deeply about helping others and making a positive impact on their lives. It's rewarding work that allows me to support people through challenging times and celebrate their successes.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Adolescents and Adults
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing that might be helpful for clients to know is that mental health is just as important as physical health. It’s okay to prioritize your mental well-being and seek support when you need it. You don’t have to be in a crisis to reach out for help. Taking proactive steps to care your mental health can make a big difference in your overall quality of life..
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
During our initial session, I'll conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand your mental health concerns, medical history, and personal goals. This is a chance for us to get to know each other, and for you to share your story. I'll also explain my approach, discuss confidentiality, and answer any questions you may have. In the early stages of therapy, we'll work together to identify your strengths, challenges, and priorities, and develop a personalized treatment plan that may include therapy, medication management, or a combination of both. My goal is to establish a supportive and non-judgmental relationship, empowering you to achieve optimal mental health and wellness.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My passion for helping others and experience working with diverse populations inform my practice. I value building strong, supportive relationships and creating a safe, empathetic environment where clients feel heard and understood.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe every person's journey is unique, so I take the time to really get to know each client, understanding their story, strengths, and challenges. From there, we work together to craft a personalized plan that feels right for them. My goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and goals, and where we can work together to find solutions that truly fit their needs.
