Get to know Cynthia
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a psychiatric provider because I am passionate about helping people improve their mental health and overall quality of life. Throughout my nursing career, I witnessed how emotional and psychological challenges can affect every aspect of a person's well-being, relationships, and daily functioning. I was drawn to psychiatry because it allows me to build meaningful therapeutic relationships, provide compassionate support, and help individuals develop the tools they need to overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve their personal goals. Seeing clients gain hope, confidence, and stability is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adolescents and adults who are motivated to improve their mental health and overall well-being. I commonly support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, stress-related challenges, and insomnia. Many of my clients are seeking greater emotional balance, healthier coping strategies, improved relationships, and better functioning at work, school, or home. I especially enjoy partnering with clients who value a collaborative approach and are ready to take active steps toward healing, growth, and lasting positive change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is not a straight line. Progress often comes through small, consistent steps rather than dramatic changes, and setbacks are a normal part of growth—not a sign of failure. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and with the right support, selfcompassion, and commitment to the process, meaningful and lasting change is possible. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, understood, and supported as they move toward the life they want to create.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, we'll discuss your concerns, symptoms, history, and goals in a supportive, judgment-free environment. Together, we'll create a personalized treatment plan. In the early stages of therapy, we'll focus on building trust, developing effective coping strategies, and tracking your progress toward meaningful, lasting change.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by compassion, empathy, respect, and the belief that every person deserves to feel heard and supported. My nursing and mental health experience has shown me the importance of treating the whole person, not just symptoms. I value collaboration, cultural sensitivity, and evidence-based care, helping clients build resilience, gain insight, and create meaningful change in their lives.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor care by first understanding each client’s history, symptoms, strengths, and goals through a comprehensive assessment and ongoing dialogue. From there, I develop an individualized, evidence-based treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and coping skills. I continuously adjust the approach based on progress, feedback, and changing needs to ensure care remains effective, relevant, and person-centered.
