About Ilyssa
My name is Ilyssa Carsia, CRNP, PMHNP-BC. I have worked as an inpatient nurse in medical-surgical settings, and I have also worked as an outpatient nurse in rehabilitation and behavioral health settings. I am passionate about my chosen profession as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I love learning about and connecting with others. In particular, I enjoy helping others navigate major life transitions. I understand how past experiences shape current mental health challenges, and I help patients process difficult experiences and build resilience. I have expertise in treating anxiety and mood disorders with a holistic approach.
I like to take a person-centered approach, helping people work towards their ideal self. I have a deep understanding of how early childhood experiences and familial relationships can affect and shape development and personality. I am skilled at helping people recognize unconscious beliefs, emotions, and relational patterns.
Whatever you may be going through, I am here to be an ongoing source of support, guidance, and encouragement. I look forward to hearing from you and learning about your unique story, challenges, and treatment goals!

"I recognize that mental wellness is influenced by multiple interconnected factors including biological, psychological, social and lifestyle elements. Rather than simply treating symptoms, I work with each patient to understand the root causes of their challenges and develop comprehensive treatment plans that address the whole person. "
Get to know Ilyssa
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
It was a career that felt deeply fulfilling and rewarding to me. Work ends up becoming a major part of a person's life, and I wanted to choose a career that I could wake up every morning and feel enthusiastic about.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are open to a holistic approach and are curious about the root cause of their challenges.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Healing isn't linear, and that's ok. It's important to accept ourselves where we are at and be patient with ourselves in the process.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first few sessions, I will want to discuss the client's unique upbringing, history, current situation and perspective in detail, before collaborating on a treatment plan that is uniquely tailored to the client's individual needs and preferences.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I understand that the best treatment approach is multi-factorial.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I ensure that the client feels comfortable with the treatment plan and that the approach aligns with their values and preferences.
