About Tamara
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 8 years of experience supporting adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health concerns. I specialize in providing compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care focused on promoting emotional wellness, symptom management, and improved quality of life through collaborative treatment planning.
I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from Walden University. My clinical background includes experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, where I integrate evidence-based practices with clinical expertise to deliver individualized, whole-person care tailored to each client’s needs.
I strive to create a supportive and judgment-free environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered in your care. Together, we will work toward meaningful progress, increased stability, and lasting emotional well-being. I welcome the opportunity to support you on your mental health journey.

"My approach to care focuses on building strong rapport by helping individuals recognize their growth potential and achieve their healthcare goals through collaborative, whole-person treatment grounded in evidence-based practices, clinical experience, and a supportive, empowering environment."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to help individuals feel supported, empowered, and heard on their healthcare journey toward stability and well-being.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Honing my decades of experience, I work best with clients from diverse backgrounds and have developed the skill set to treat the individual as a whole person rather than a diagnosis.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process is that setbacks can or may happen; however, it does not mean that the client is failing or doing anything wrong. Therapy helps the client build skills and learn how to cope with and respond to life challenges.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Clients can expect a safe, nonjudgmental environment in which a therapeutic relationship is established. They will receive education about their conditions and engage in a collaborative process to create individualized treatment plans that honor their goals, culture, and life experiences. Additionally, clients should feel relaxed discussing their concerns and will be supported to actively participate in their treatment from the very first session and throughout the early stages of therapy.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
As a mental health provider, I am guided by the values of integrity, empathy, and compassion. In addition, I approach clients with respect rather than judgment, creating a safe environment where they feel comfortable—building rapport and establishing a collaborative partnership that allows clients autonomy to reach their healthcare goals.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
To meet the client's needs, I tailor therapy by recognizing that no single approach works for everyone. Each client is different and may have unique experiences, symptoms, strengths, or goals. As a provider, I must understand who the client is and what their needs entail. This understanding is based on a thorough assessment that identifies their current concerns and their hopes for treatment.
