About LaShunda
I have many years of clinical experience in behavioral health, caring for individuals with a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and behavioral challenges. Through my nursing experience, I have worked closely with patients and families, helping them navigate treatment plans, medication management, crisis situations, and community resources. These experiences have reinforced the importance of compassionate, collaborative, evidence-based mental health care and the significant impact it has on overall well-being.
My approach is collaborative and evidence-based. I specialize in treating children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, and mood disorders through psychiatric evaluations and medication management. I believe in treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis, and involving clients in their treatment plan.
Seeking help is a courageous first step, and you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. Whether you're facing a difficult season or simply looking for support and personal growth, I would be honored to walk alongside you. When you're ready, I invite you to schedule an appointment. I look forward to supporting you on your path to healing.

"As one who has experienced their own personal trauma and loss due to mental health issues, I have an genuine understanding of mental health needs across the lifespan and how to create a compassionate, judgment-free space where we work together to help one heal, grow, and achieve lasting mental wellness. Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to pursue a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree because I am passionate about improving access to quality mental health services and addressing the growing need for psychiatric providers. I want to expand my ability to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions while providing holistic, patientcentered care. Becoming a PMHNP will allow me to advocate for patients, reduce barriers to treatment, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with children, adolescents, and adults (under age 50) seeking compassionate, evidencebased mental health care. I have experience treating individuals with anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, and other common psychiatric conditions. I particularly enjoy partnering with clients who are motivated to better understand themselves, develop healthy coping skills, and actively participate in their treatment.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish every client knew is that healing is not a linear process. There will be moments of progress, setbacks, and everything in between—and that’s completely normal. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and you don’t have to have everything figured out before asking for support. Mental health care is a partnership. My role is to provide guidance, evidencebased treatment, and a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and understood. Together, we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you, celebrate your progress, and navigate challenges with compassion. Every step forward, no matter how small, is meaningful, and lasting change is possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
To begin building an open, trusting, and collaborative relationship.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by compassion, empathy, integrity, and a genuine belief that every person deserves to feel heard, valued, and supported. I value building authentic therapeutic relationships rooted in trust, collaboration, and cultural humility.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe there is no onesize-fits-all approach to mental health care. Every client brings a unique set of experiences, strengths, values, and goals, so I take the time to understand their story before developing a treatment plan. I tailor care by considering each person’s symptoms, life circumstances, cultural background, preferences, and readiness for change. My approach integrates thorough psychiatric evaluation, medication management when appropriate, psychoeducation, and supportive, evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
