She began her journey in Toledo, OH working with adults at Mercy St. Charles Hospital and children at the University of Toledo Medical Center where Jamie was able to get a variety of experience in all areas of mental health. This led Jamie to pursue her ultimate goal of becoming a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through obtaining her Masters in Science and Nursing from Wayne State University. Over the years, Jamie has treated a wide variety of individuals through Community Mental Health Centers, Private Practices, and an Eating Disorder Treatment Center.
Jamie’s passion is working to understand the unique experiences that make someone who they are and help them to work toward goals they have for themselves and their future. My psychiatrist and therapist are both good listeners and have helpful advice and take their time with me. I learned something from both of them at every visit

Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?
When I was in my undergraduate psychiatric Nursing class I suffered a major loss in my life. Going through the grief and changes in mood throughout gave me a better appreciation for psychiatry and suddenly I realized this was the type of nurse I wanted to be. I loved it so much that I decided to go back to learn more and become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients that want to play an active role in making change in their life. A medication alone will no solve your health struggles and it is important for my clients to understand that.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with individuals going through transitions in their lives whether is be ending adolescence and into adulthood, going off to college, marriage, having children, or entering the work force.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew the important role that nutrition and physical activity plays in all aspects of our health, especially our mental health.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
My husband's job has a tendency to move our family and I wanted to have an environment where I could see clients virtually so that next time this occurs I will not have to say goodbye to my practice, but can continue to see them no matter where I may reside.
What inspires you?0
Younger generations inspire me. Whether it be my own children or children and adolescence I have worked with in practice. It is amazing to see the uniqueness in each individual and how we are all growing and evolving each day. I also love their seeing imaginations run wild for what is possible. My son recently informed me that if he were to disappear one morning after his 11th Birthday not to worry because he was most likely chosen to attend school at Hogwarts and I would see him at Christmas.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Not going to lie, a lot of questions. I really try to get to know a lot about all aspects of your health and wellness. I also want to know what your goals are and how I can help you to fulfill them.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to have a better understand of them, their world, and how their mental health is impacting all aspects of their life.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I appreciate honesty and need you to be open with me if there is something that is not working for you or if you have side effects you do not like from a medication. It doesn't serve you to sugar coat meetings with me.
What do you do for fun in your time off?
Since moving to NC my family and I have enjoyed getting outdoors more to check out area parks, go on hikes, and be active with our friends.
