Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a psychiatric provider because I have always had a passion for caring for people, not just in treating their symptoms. As a nurse, I learned that mental health can significantly impact every aspect of a person's life, including their relationships and overall well-being. I wanted to make a difference by helping individuals feel heard, fostering hope, and providing the tools for a healthier, more fulfilling life. Being part of that journey is a privilege, which is why I love what I do.ame a psychiatric provider because I’ve always had a passion for taking care of people in general and not just treating symptoms. What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with individuals who are looking for support, guidance, and practical answers to improve their mental well-being. I prefer working with people with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, stress, and life transitions. I love to build authentic relationships and work with my patients to help them feel empowered, achieve their objectives, and make meaningful, positive changes.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I want every client to understand that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Healing is a process and every step is a step forward no matter how small. You do not have to face life’s challenges alone and I am here to support you with compassion, respect and hope along the way.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
I know meeting with a new provider can feel intimidating, so my goal is to help you feel comfortable from the moment we begin. In our first session, I'll get to know you—not just your symptoms, but your story, strengths, and what you hope to achieve. We'll discuss your mental and physical health history, current concerns, medications, sleep, stress, and any questions or worries you may have. Together, we'll create a treatment plan that feels right for you. Please leave our first visit feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about what's ahead.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by compassion, empathy, and the belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. My Christian faith in God inspires me to serve others with kindness, grace, and integrity while honoring each person's unique beliefs, values, and life experiences. With more than 25 years in nursing, I've learned that healing begins with listening, building trust, and caring for the whole person—not just their diagnosis. I strive to partner with each patient to create a personalized treatment plan that supports their goals and overall wellbeing.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe there is no onesize-fits-all approach to mental health care. Every person has a unique story, so I take time to understand your experiences, strengths, values, and goals before developing a personalized treatment plan. Together, we'll make decisions that fit your needs, adjusting your care as you grow and your goals evolve. My priority is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers you to achieve lasting wellness.
