About Christianah
I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with 28 years of healthcare experience and 10 years in mental health, caring for individuals from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults ages 10 and up experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, psychosis, behavioral challenges, substance use concerns, life transitions, grief, stress, relationship difficulties, and emotional distress. My goal is to provide individualized, compassionate care that supports each person's unique journey toward healing and recovery.
My approach to care is compassionate, collaborative, holistic, and evidence-based. I believe progress occurs when clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care. I combine psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychoeducation, supportive therapy, and treatment planning to address each client's unique needs and goals.
I understand that reaching out can feel overwhelming, and you do not have to navigate life's challenges alone. Healing is possible, growth is achievable, and positive change can begin with a single step. I would be honored to partner with you and invite you to schedule an appointment to begin your journey toward greater health, hope, and well-being.

"As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner , I provide compassionate, nonjudgmental care grounded in empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based practice, creating a safe space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered in their journey toward healing and wellness. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a psychiatric provider because I have always been passionate about helping people improve their quality of life and reach their fullest potential. Throughout my healthcare career, I witnessed the profound impact that mental health challenges can have on individuals, families, and communities. I was inspired to pursue psychiatric care so I could provide compassionate, evidence-based treatment that helps people heal, gain hope, build resilience, and achieve lasting emotional wellness.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work well with adolescents, adults, and older adults ages 10 and up who are motivated to improve their mental health and overall wellbeing. I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, psychosis, life transitions, stress, and co-occurring mental health or substance use concerns. I enjoy partnering with clients who are seeking personal growth, symptom relief, improved coping skills, and greater emotional balance.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that healing is not a linear process and that meaningful progress often occurs one step at a time. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. There is no expectation of perfection, and setbacks do not mean failure. With support, patience, and commitment, positive change is possible, and every small step forward is worth celebrating.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment where they feel comfortable sharing their concerns. During the first session, I take time to understand their history, current challenges, strengths, goals, and treatment needs through a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Together, we develop an individualized treatment plan, and in the early stages of care, we focus on building trust, identifying priorities, and establishing practical strategies to support progress and recovery.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by compassion, respect, integrity, cultural sensitivity, and a genuine belief in every person's ability to grow and heal. My years of experience in healthcare have taught me the importance of listening without judgment, treating each individual with dignity, and recognizing that every person's story is unique. I value collaboration and strive to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and mutual respect.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I recognize that no two individuals are alike, which is why I take a personalized approach to care. I consider each client's background, culture, strengths, challenges, preferences, goals, and stage of life when developing a treatment plan. By combining evidencebased practices, medication management when appropriate, psychoeducation, and supportive therapeutic interventions, I help clients achieve outcomes that are meaningful and relevant to their unique circumstances.
