Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric provider because I have always been passionate about supporting individuals through some of life’s most challenging moments and helping them feel seen, heard, and understood. Throughout my nursing experience, I recognized the profound impact that compassionate mental health care can have on a person’s overall wellbeing, relationships, and quality of life. Becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner allowed me to combine my clinical knowledge with my commitment to providing holistic, patient-centered care that addresses both emotional and mental health needs. I find deep meaning in empowering individuals on their journey toward healing, resilience, and personal growth.”
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adolescents and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, traumarelated symptoms, stress, and life transitions, as well as those seeking support with emotional regulation, self-esteem, and identity-related concerns. I also enjoy working with individuals who are motivated to better understand themselves and are open to a collaborative, holistic approach to treatment that may include both therapy and medication management. My goal is to meet each client where they are and provide thoughtful, individualized care that supports their healing, stability, and overall wellbeing.”
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is rarely linear, and progress often happens in small, meaningful steps that may not always be immediately visible. Mental health treatment is a collaborative process, and it is okay to move at your own pace, ask questions, and take time to build trust in the process. With consistent support, compassion, and the right tools, lasting change is possible, and no one has to navigate their journey alone.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where we begin by discussing their current concerns, mental health history, and what they hope to gain from treatment. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I also conduct a thorough psychiatric evaluation, which may include exploring symptoms, medical history, medications, and any relevant life stressors to help develop a clear understanding of their needs. In the early stages of treatment, we work collaboratively to create an individualized care plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and coping strategies tailored to their goals. Clients can expect consistent support, open communication, and a thoughtful, step-by-step approach focused on safety, stability, and longterm progress.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is grounded in the values of compassion, respect, and a deep commitment to treating each person as a whole individual rather than a diagnosis. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, my clinical experience has reinforced the importance of listening carefully, meeting clients where they are, and recognizing how biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors all interact in mental health. I value cultural humility, patient autonomy, and collaborative care, and I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and actively involved in their treatment. I am continually guided by the belief that every person has the capacity for growth and healing when they are met with consistent support and evidence-based care.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I tailor treatment by taking a highly individualized and holistic approach that considers each client’s unique symptoms, history, goals, strengths, and life circumstances. I begin with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to understand both clinical and contextual factors, including biological, psychological, social, and cultural influences on mental health. From there, I collaborate with each client to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and evidence-based coping strategies. I continuously monitor progress and adjust the plan as needed, ensuring that care remains responsive, effective, and aligned with the client’s evolving needs and goals. My focus is always on providing compassionate, patientcentered care that supports long-term stability, growth, and overall well-being.
