I am a nurse practitioner specialized in psychiatric medication management. I am a Kansas native and University of Kansas alumna. I have worked for the State of Missouri inpatient forensic competency restoration with individuals with serious mental illness, acute psychosis, oftentimes comorbid developmental disability and/or substance use disorders. I have worked in corrections, at Jackson County Jail and Lansing Correctional Facility prison, for the last 4 years. Many of my patients are healing from trauma and all are working toward a better tomorrow.
During college, I was employed by KU as a tutor to help pay my way, educating others has been a longstanding passion of mine. I believe that education and transparency helps clients understand their regimen and the evidence behind the decisions. I enjoy conversation and working together for a path forward.
In my line of work, I have seen it all, I want you to know that our appointments are a safe space to discuss anything on your mind. It is my goal to be empathetic and understanding, no matter what. I look forward to putting my education and experience to good use in working alongside you to prioritize your mental health.

"Working with incarcerated individuals has refined my ability to treat complex mental illness and work through trauma in a way that is effective and compassionate. "
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My first healthcare experience was working as a CNA in various retirement homes. Later, I was working as an RN in a step-down ICU unit. No matter where I worked, mental health was inseparable from my patients' stories. Their feelings, emotions, and experiences were incredibly valuable perspectives that I focused on to assist in their healing. I quickly realized that mental health is what I am passionate about and what I am capable of treating very well.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Come as you are, it is my job to adapt based on your needs. I plan to advise, as best I can, in pursuit of your emotional wellbeing. I have studied and experienced so much in this field and I am passionate about helping my patients, I love to talk and build our professional relationship.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish they knew how much success they have already had. If you have shown up to work this week, taken a shower, went grocery shopping, or considered seeking a professional partner in mental wellness, all these are examples of your efforts toward building a beautiful life that is conducive to mental wellness. Healing is not always easy, but it is what you are capable of.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Inherently we will discuss your history of psychiatric treatment, medication trials, outcomes, current symptoms, and clearly define goals of treatment. I want to know how you see yourself, and I want to learn what is important to you, these two concepts will inform our plan of action.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My most dearly held personal value is humility, as a clinician, I strive to make that apparent. I have studied psychopharmacology intensely and continue to do so, but you are the expert on yourself and I am excited to learn from you.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Listening is the first step to understanding, I make conscious effort to be a good listening ear. I am very much a believer of "the only constant is change," I approach visits expecting each to bring about its own nuance and individuality.
