Get to know Lori
Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?
I was a family nurse practitioner working in a primary care setting and noticed I was caring for an increasing number of patients with mental health challenges. I went back to school to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner so I could learn to better care for patients with unique mental health needs.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with people who are motivated to achieve maximum wellness and those who take an active part in their care.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Positive thinking can positively impact both physical and mental health.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to work for Thriveworks because it offers me the autonomy doing what I love from the comfort of my home.
What inspires you?
Depression can be a "dark place." I am inspired by knowing that it does not have to be a permanent place. Depression can be treated and you can move from darkness into the light.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a time of introduction and getting to know your mental health concerns and goals for your recovery.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am an older female with many life experiences, both good and bad. The old adage that "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger" is true! Over the years I have learned much from difficult experiences in my life and those of my family. These experiences include marriage, divorce, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, suicide, and alcohol abuse. I have been blessed with a large blended family of 9 adult children and 16 grandchildren.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy traveling and hanging out with family and friends.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
