About Kanesha
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 14 years of experience providing care across inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings. I work primarily with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and life transitions who are seeking clarity, stability, and emotional relief. My goal is to help clients feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their mental health journey.
I earned my Master of Science in nursing from Herzing University. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, combining evidence-based medication management with thoughtful education and supportive guidance. I emphasize insight-building, emotional regulation, and individualized treatment planning.
You do not have to navigate this process alone. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or ready for change, I strive to meet you where you are and provide care rooted in respect, empathy, and clinical expertise. I welcome the opportunity to support you as you take the next step toward healing and improved well-being.

"I bring a compassionate, trauma-informed approach that honors each person’s lived experience while supporting meaningful and sustainable healing."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a psychiatric provider because I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and understood during some of life’s most difficult moments. Throughout my clinical training and professional experience, I’ve seen how compassionate, evidence-based mental health care can truly change lives. I’m deeply motivated by the opportunity to help individuals find stability, clarity, and hope while walking alongside them with empathy, respect, and clinical expertise.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults who are motivated to better understand their mental health and are open to collaboration in their care. Many of my clients are navigating depression, anxiety, mood instability, trauma, or major life transitions and are seeking clarity, stability, and practical support. I especially enjoy working with individuals who value a thoughtful, supportive, and structured approach and want to feel informed and empowered throughout their treatment.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that healing is not about being “fixed” or having everything figured out right away. Progress often happens gradually, and showing up, being honest, and giving yourself grace are powerful parts of the process. You don’t have to do this perfectly or alone—support and growth can unfold at your own pace.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a calm, supportive conversation focused on getting to know them and understanding what brings them in. We’ll talk about current concerns, goals, and any past experiences with mental health care, and I’ll answer questions along the way so nothing feels rushed or overwhelming. In the early stages, we work collaboratively to create a thoughtful plan, build trust, and take steady, manageable steps toward feeling more stable, supported, and hopeful.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by values of empathy, respect, and meeting people where they are. I believe mental health care works best when clients feel genuinely heard, safe, and supported, especially during vulnerable moments. I value collaboration, honesty, and education, and I strive to create a space where clients can build trust, gain insight, and move toward meaningful, lasting change at their own pace.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor care by taking time to understand each client’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals. I recognize that no two people are the same, so I use a thoughtful, collaborative approach that considers personal history, current stressors, and preferences. Together, we adjust the pace, focus, and strategies of treatment to ensure care feels supportive, relevant, and aligned with what each client needs to move forward.
