Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?
I had the opportunity to provide care to clients in different medical settings in my nursing career during which I noticed that I was always giving additional attention to individuals who presented with mental health issues, and got more satisfaction from helping them meet their medical needs. That was one of the reasons I decided to become a Psychiatric Provider.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that most societies are now normalizing treatment of Psychiatric problems, thereby watering down stigmatizations once attached to such illnesses.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During the first session, clients should expect to state their names, locations, verify their addresses, current phone numbers, and contact person. They should additionally expect a compassionate, and empathetic Clinician who is ready to provide comprehensive head to toe assessment. Patients should be ready and willing to report their current signs and symptoms; any current and past medical and mental health diagnoses; their current and past medications and the names and locations of the Prescribers. Clients should also mention benefits, untoward effects of current or past medications, including other pertinent Psychological or lab test reports.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
The clients need to know that I am a compassionate, empathetic, and attentive provider that is ready to work with them, any close relative, and other treatment team members they authorize to participate in their care plan to bring them to an adequate therapeutic outcome.
