About Cindy

Cinandra is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) specializing in a variety of disorders including anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorder, and behavioral disturbance. Cinandra's primary goal is to establish relationships with her patients that are both empowering as well as educational. Cinandra treats both adolescents as well as adults, covering the various issues experienced across the lifespan. Her role as a PMHNP is a multifaceted one, in which Cinandra works as an advocate, educator, and collaborator. She is diligent in the care that she provides and strives to attain positive outcomes for all of her clients, helping them reach their optimal mental health goals.

Cinandra completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Augusta University, with a doctoral focus on the provision of emotionally appropriate yet comprehensive care to geriatric hospice patients. Said studies provided Cinandra the opportunity to work with clientele from various cultures, socioeconomic statuses, and mental health backgrounds. Her education and experience, in conjunction with her desire to provide excellent care, allow Cinandra to naturally build rapport with clients and their families. Said relationships matter to Cinandra, as she strives to have each client feel respected and validated. In addition to medication management, Cinandra utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) techniques, culturally sensitive communication, emotionally-focused communication, motivational interviewing, and person-centered techniques when working to develop treatment plans.

There is no shame in seeking help, just as there is no shame in needing medicinal intervention. Cinandra is here to work with you to help you live the life that you deserve. Through communication, education, empathy, and understanding, you both can develop a plan of care so that you can manage whatever comes your way. Cinandra is ready to help you, so feel free to schedule an appointment with her today!

My psychiatrist listening to what I want; I did research on a specific med and she agreed that we could explore it as an option in the future if needed.

Get to know Cindy

Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a psychiatric provider because I wanted to show people that it is okay to not be okay. I also wanted people to know that help is available, that seeking treatment is brave, and that there is someone willing to help them.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients who are interested in playing an active role in their treatment. Those who want to be educated and are invested in improving how they feel.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I'm excited to work with anyone who is excited about changing their life.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

That their opinion matters.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by perseverance and hope, in whatever form they present.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Our first session will include a lot of fact finding, with me asking questions about their history , us getting to know each other, and us collaborating on what their ideal life would look like.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

That we will have candid discussions, talking about their history and what led them to seek treatment. I also want them to know that they will not be judged or disrespected in any manner.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love to read. It is my favorite pastime.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I believe in having integrity in all that I do. I strive to treat others the way I want my loved ones (and myself) to be treated.
