Vanessa Gelin is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 11 years of experience treating individuals of all ages, from children and adolescents to adults and geriatrics. She specializes in managing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and psychotic disorders. Vanessa is known for her compassionate, client-centered care that supports individuals through healing and growth. She fosters a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to take an active role in their mental health journey.
Vanessa earned her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She utilizes a trauma-informed, holistic approach to care, focusing on building trust, emotional safety, and collaborative treatment planning. Her communication style is rooted in empathy, motivation, and respect for each client’s lived experience.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Growing up with a parent who has a mental illness presented unique challenges for me. It showed me first hand on what it is like to suffer in silence, therefore becoming a psychiatric provider would allow me to advocate for my clients and reduce stigma surrounding mental health.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Adolescents and young adults suffering with depression, anxiety, ADHD and other mood disorders.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with Adolescents.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
You are not alone and support is closer than you think.

What inspires you?
What inspires me is seeing my clients bounce back from a setback by taking control of their mental health.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Create an individualized treatment plan following a comprehensive evaluation.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I am non judgmental, empathetic, a good listener and warm.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and two dogs. I love trying new restaurants and exploring new cities.
