Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a psychiatric provider because I have always been passionate about helping people through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. My background as a critical care nurse taught me that mental health is just as important as physical health and that many people struggle in silence. I wanted the opportunity to spend more time listening, understanding each person's story, and helping them find meaningful solutions. As a PMHNP, I find it incredibly rewarding to support individuals as they build resilience, improve their wellbeing, and create positive change in their lives.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults and older adults who are motivated to improve their mental health and overall quality of life. Many of my clients are dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, burnout, sleep difficulties, or life transitions. I also enjoy working with individuals who feel overwhelmed and are looking for practical strategies, thoughtful medication management, and a supportive partner in their mental health journey.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Healing is not about being perfect or having all the answers. It's about making small, consistent changes over time. Mental health challenges are part of the human experience, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don't have to face life's difficulties alone, and meaningful progress is possible, even when it doesn't happen overnight.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, we'll take time to discuss what brought you to treatment, your symptoms, medical and mental health history, and your goals. My approach is relaxed, collaborative, and judgment-free. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan and identify practical next steps. In the early stages of treatment, clients can expect support, education, and a clear path toward meaningful progress.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by compassion, respect, and the belief that every person deserves to feel heard and understood. My experience as both a critical care nurse and psychiatric provider has shown me how deeply mental and physical health are connected. I value authenticity, collaboration, and meeting people where they are, helping them build on their strengths while working toward meaningful change.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I recognize that no two people have the same experiences, challenges, or goals. I take time to understand each client's unique story, strengths, and needs before developing a personalized treatment plan. I tailor my approach by combining evidence-based treatment, medication management when appropriate, education, and practical strategies that align with each person's goals and lifestyle.
