About Chrystal

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of nursing experience across emergency, ambulatory, behavioral health, and leadership settings. These experiences have given me a broad perspective on how mental health can affect every aspect of a person's life, from relationships and work to physical well-being. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and other mental health challenges. Many of the clients I work with are seeking symptom relief, improved functioning, greater emotional stability, or a better understanding of their experience.

My approach is collaborative and individualized, grounded in listening to the whole person. I specialize in psychiatric medication management and develop treatment plans based on each client's symptoms, preferences, lifestyle, and goals. I also believe in educating clients on their diagnosis, treatment options, and medications so they feel informed.

You do not have to navigate your mental health journey alone. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and you deserve care that respects your experiences. Whether you're struggling with symptoms, looking for answers, or ready to make a change, I would be honored to walk alongside you. When you're ready, I invite you to schedule an appointment and take that step.

Get to know Chrystal

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a psychiatric provider because I wanted to be able to care for the whole person, not just the immediate medical concern in front of me. Throughout my nursing career, I saw how deeply mental health can affect a person's relationships, physical health, work, confidence, and overall quality of life. I wanted to have the knowledge and clinical ability to help people understand what they were experiencing, identify appropriate treatment options, and feel supported as they worked toward becoming healthier and more fulfilled. Becoming a PMHNP allowed me to combine my nursing experience, passion for education, and commitment to compassionate, individualized care in a way that can make a lasting difference in someone's life.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work especially well with clients who are ready to better understand themselves and take an active role in their mental health care, whether they are just beginning to seek help or have been navigating mental health concerns for some time. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and challenges affecting their ability to function and enjoy their daily lives. I also work well with clients who may feel uncertain about treatment or have had experiences that made it difficult to trust the healthcare system. I believe in meeting people where they are rather than expecting them to arrive with everything figured out.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish every client knew that healing is not always linear, and asking for help does not mean you are weak or that something is wrong with you. Mental health is part of overall health, and seeking support is a strength. Progress may look different from one person to another, and sometimes meaningful progress begins with simply feeling heard, gaining insight, or taking one small step forward. You do not have to have everything figured out before you seek help.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and judgmentfree conversation focused on getting to know them as a person, understanding what brought them to care, discussing their symptoms and concerns, and learning about their goals. I will also review relevant medical, psychiatric, social, and medication history so that we can develop a complete picture of their needs. Together, we will discuss treatment options and determine a plan that feels appropriate and manageable. In the early stages of care, I prioritize building trust, providing education, monitoring progress and medication response when applicable, and making adjustments as needed. My goal is for clients to leave their appointments feeling heard, informed, and clear about their next steps.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is strongly informed by the values of compassion, dignity, respect, education, and service. My years in nursing, including experiences in emergency care, ambulatory care, leadership, education, and behavioral health, have taught me that every person brings a unique story and set of circumstances to their care. Those experiences have reinforced the importance of listening without judgment, treating people with dignity, and recognizing the individual behind the diagnosis. I also value education and empowerment because I believe people should feel informed and involved in decisions about their own care.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I tailor care by first taking the time to understand the individual rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis or list of symptoms. I consider each client's history, current concerns, goals, lifestyle, preferences, strengths, and previous experiences with treatment. From there, we work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that is realistic and aligned with their needs. I also recognize that treatment may need to evolve over time, so I continually assess progress, listen to feedback, and make adjustments when appropriate. My goal is for clients to feel that their treatment plan is something we develop together, not something simply prescribed to them.
