About Sarah
Sarah is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and works with those suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and behavioral concerns. Evaluating the effectiveness of treatment and the individual's response to it are aspects of care that Sarah highly regards.
Sarah completed her Master of Science with emphasis on Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (MSN) from California State University, Los Angeles. She completed a credential in School Nursing from California State University, San Bernardino, and so she uniquely understands how to navigate mental health, behavioral, and attentional concerns in the school setting. Working as a bedside Registered Nurse for 14 years facilitated her understanding of how childhood trauma can play a factor in the development of chronic health conditions. Coming from a culturally diverse background herself and thriving in like environments, she embraces those from all walks of life.

Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?
Everyone should have the chance to live their best life. We all don't win the genetic lottery for mental health. Sometimes our past experiences can throw a stick in our spokes. Life may be going smoothly and then we hit a bump in the road. Psychiatry is the best area of specialty for me because I believe that everyone deserves the chance to improve and if that takes medication then that is wonderful.
What types of clients do you work with best?
The best client-provider relationship that I find to be therapeutic is one that involves teamwork. We can work together to find the best solution to get where the client would like to be.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Anxiety causes one to be so anxious that they are reluctant to take medication, yet they are so anxious that medication may be indicated.
What inspires you?
Hope inspires me.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session we will have an introduction and move on to discuss concerns. Discussing only what is comfortable we review psychiatric, medical and other history. We will go through some questions for a diagnosis and come up with a medication plan that best meets the treatment goals of the client.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to go out with the kids and husband to catch a movie.
