Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My career in nursing has been guided by a commitment to understanding and addressing the complexities of the human experience beyond physical well-being. Throughout my professional practice, I have observed the significant effects of mental illness on individuals and their families, leading me to recognize that comprehensive care must integrate both mental and physical health. This perspective has motivated my aspiration to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), enabling me to offer evidence-based clinical expertise alongside compassionate care for individuals facing mental health challenges.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Adults
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Trauma frequently plays a significant role in many mental health issues, and it is essential to address trauma alongside medication management for effective treatment of symptoms
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
active listening
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Clients experiencing challenges such as meaninglessness, hopelessness, or diminished motivation may benefit from clarifying personal values that inform purposeful action, even during periods of discomfort. Articulating these core values can serve as a stabilizing influence in depressive episodes or when anxiety interferes with goal-directed behavior.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Considering the breadth of psychotherapy interventions supported by evidence, and recognizing that no single approach or clinician is effective for every patient
Does CLINICIAN prescribe medications effective for the treatment of ADHD?
Yes - when clinically appropriate, CLINICIAN may prescribe both non-stimulant (all ages) and stimulant (adults only) medication for the treatment of ADHD.
