About Oliver
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) with 33 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in working with individuals navigating complex and long-term challenges, including trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and life transitions. My work often supports clients who are seeking deeper insight, sustained change, and recovery through a thoughtful and collaborative therapeutic process.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from New York University. My clinical approach is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy and incorporates motivational interviewing, stages of change, recovery-oriented care, and Beckian cognitive behavior therapy techniques that are tailored to each client’s unique needs.
You can expect me to be deeply curious about your experiences, goals, and personal story. Together, we will build a clear understanding of what has shaped you and develop strategies that support meaningful progress and hope. Change takes time and practice, and you do not have to navigate it alone. I am here to support you every step of the way.

"As a person with lived experience, I understand that your care needs to be tailored to you and focus on solutions to gain confidence in your ability to make changes."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
As a child I observed family members volunteering for the good of others and serving others. Similarly, in terms of work role models I was inspired by the doctor who was the Physician, the teacher who was an Educator, the religious leader who was the Rabbi. These were all people committed to pursuing their craft and doing it well and with a dedication to the people they served.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I tend to do well with individuals who come to care and support for recovery from long term and/or complicated situations. I am able to share hope with individuals who have come to feel hopeless.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Change can happen. It takes time, it takes practice. Change can be stressful and it doesn't always move in a forward motion: sometimes it goes backwards. Feeling discouraged about it is normal. However, sustained change and the self directed life that comes with it is worth the work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
You can expect curiosity and, if you consent, questions to designed for us to have a shared understanding of what brings you to this first appointment and where you would like to go in our work together.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
See motivation to become a psychotherapist.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I only work in a person centered way: what do you as the client define as the purpose for coming to psychotherapy? I am always curious about the client's story: how it began, what has been tried. What is the individual's vision for the future and how to get there. I don't make assumptions about what a person needs other than situations such as requests (for example) "I need help managing depression/anxiety". Everything else is unique to the person. I also solicit consent along each step of the way: introducing new concepts, or trying new or different techniques.
