Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always enjoyed helping people, and being a counselor was a great way to do that.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
You have to have a good relationship with your therapist to truly feel comfortable to work through the hard things. If you had a bad experience with one therapist, don't be afraid to try someone new.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I am able to help more people across the state from the comforts of home.
What inspires you?
Seeing people make improvements to better themselves.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I will ask probably a 101 nosy questions to get to understand you and your specific needs. We will then come up with a plan of action on what is important to you and how we can achieve those goals. I will also tell you a little about me and my approach to therapy to make sure we are a good fit. I will never make you talk about things you aren't ready for, and will go at your own pace.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
A good understanding of the current needs, what has worked in the past and what hasn't, so we can develop a good working plan of what to do moving forward.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Cook and go to rock concerts.
