Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Victoria recognizes the importance of mental health and has the desire to help others reach their full potential and improve their quality of life through setting and achieving goals in obtaining happier, healthier lifestyle both mentally and emotionally.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Victoria works best with adolescents and adults who are motivated to change and make efforts to improve their well-being.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Progress is not always linear. Sometimes there are curves and bumps in the road, but you’re not walking the path alone. No one can can take the steps for you, you have to be willing to put in the work!
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect for me to create a therapeutic environment that is safe, validating, and full of compassion; an environment that is safe space to be vulnerable and feel secure.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session I aim to accomplish creating a safe space by building rapport with the client. Therapy is an huge step to take and can be overwhelming and scary. My focus is to establish a therapeutic relationship where the individual feels welcomed, comfortable, validated, and safe enough to be vulnerable to share their challenges, symptoms, and what led the client to seek therapy. This will allow me to have a better understanding of the clients needs as I collaborate with them in identifying what they hope to gain from therapy.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I have a cat named Nairobi that I love to play and cuddle up with. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, anything crafty where I can be creative always is right up my ally, watching movies, pampering myself through self care activities, I am also a social butterfly that loves to spend quality time with my family and friends laughing and enjoying their company.
