About Sydnee
I am a Resident in Counseling with over 14 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. I’ve supported clients in foster care, crisis stabilization, and substance abuse treatment, and work with people of all ages facing anxiety, depression, trauma, or major life transitions. My passion lies in helping others improve self-esteem, manage stress, strengthen relationships, and find healing from past experiences.
I earned my master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Norfolk State University. My approach is collaborative and supportive, using cognitive behavioral therapy to help you recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns. I focus on building resilience, self-awareness, and the practical tools needed to create lasting, meaningful growth.
Reaching out for support takes courage, and I want you to know you don’t have to do it alone. Healing and growth are possible, and I’m here to walk beside you as you take the next step toward a more balanced, fulfilling life. I invite you to begin your journey toward greater peace, strength, and self-discovery today.

"As a woman of color, I blend cultural insight, authenticity, and a holistic approach that honors both mind and soul, creating a space where healing feels empowering and deeply personal."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I have a deep passion for helping people and I am dedicated to my mission of service which centers around supporting individuals of any age to achieve emotional stability and self actualization. I’ve seen how powerful a safe, supportive space can be for healing, growth, and self-discovery, and I wanted to dedicate my career to walking alongside individuals as they work toward greater emotional well-being and meaningful change.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are open to self-exploration and ready to engage in a collaborative, supportive process.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew about therapy is that it's not about being "fixed" or having the "right answers" it's about growing and giving yourself permission and grace to not only make more mistakes but to make better decisions now that you have better tool
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get familiar with each other and to start understanding what brings you to therapy. We will talk about your goals, your background, and discuss how therapy works. In the early sessions, we’ll focus on building a trusting relationship and developing a mutual understanding of your needs. We will explore your feelings and experiences, then identify patterns or themes that may contribute to difficulties you're facing. And lastly, we will begin to work on ways to help you feel more centered or empowered in daily life.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is deeply informed by both my personal experiences with trauma and grief as well as my core values. As a Black woman, I bring an understanding of the strength and resilience it takes to navigate life’s challenges while showing up for others. I value empathy, authenticity, and cultural awareness, and I strive to create a space where clients feel truly seen, heard, and respected. These experiences and values guide my commitment to supporting each person’s unique journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe that therapy should reflect who you are as person based on your goals, values, and story. I take time to truly understand each client’s background through their experiences, strengths, and challenges so our work together feels personal and meaningful. Using a flexible, integrative approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused strategies, and strength-based techniques, I tailor each session to meet their unique needs and pace. Whether they need space to process emotions, learn new skills, or find clarity in life transitions, we’ll work together to create a plan that supports their growth and well-being
